The full-sized Lexus GX SUV is a potent, upmarket SUV based on the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser Prado platform, offing exceptional capability while retaining the premium Lexus upmarket features and options.

The Lexus GX was first offered for the 2003 model year, situated in size between the RX and the LX models. The first generation, dubbed the GX 470 due to its 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 engine, lasted until 2010 when it was succeeded by the new generation, the GX 460, equipped with a 1UR-FE 4.6L V8. Despite the slightly less displacement, the 1UR-FE offers a boost in both horsepower and torque compared to its predecessor, and is mated from the factory to a more robust 6-speed automatic transmission for smoother cruising and improved fuel economy.
