This particular model is the IH Scout II Traveler, which is like the standard Scout II, only with a longer, 118 inch wheelbase. Complete with its hatchback style liftgate, this rig boasts a cargo capacity of an impressive 108 cubic feet—And yet still comes with all the capability and character of the standard wheelbase Scout II. - The International Harvester Scout was one of the forerunners of the modern off-road SUV, produced by American manufacturer International Harvester from 1961-1980. The Traveler was a variant produced from 1976-1980 that added 18 in. to the wheelbase (extending from 100 in. to 118 in.) and featured a removable, hatchback-style fiberglass top.
- This 1980 International Harvester Scout II Traveler was acquired by the seller in June 2022. It was painted Bronze by the prior owner during a comprehensive refurbishment, and Rallye-style graphics flank both sides. It also features 15 in. alloy wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich tires, from WARN manually locking hubs, front winch, and rear receiver hitch.
- Power comes from the original, IH-built, naturally-aspirated 304 ci. V8 motor sending power to all four wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission and dual-range transfer case.
- The interior largely stays true to original form, but with high-end improvements like custom black upholstery, ISSPRO gauges, GT Grant steering wheel, Kenwood touchscreen audio interface, upgraded audio equipment, and air conditioning.
- The seller notes minor surface rust and minor paint chips, documented in the photo gallery.
- Clean Michigan title. The buyer will also receive spare keys and the original owner's manual. Recent service includes an oil change and installation of a new battery.
