From the Seller:

Welcome to our auction of this really special 1983 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler on Fourbie Exchange. In addition to its beastly LS1 5.2L V8 powerplant, this fully restored Scrambler boasts a unique and durable urethane exterior, custom full roll cage, upgraded crawler-style fenders, upgraded hubs, suspension lift, Dana 44 front axle, a Ford 8.8 rear axle, and so much more. Please let us know if you have any questions in the comments below and we’ll do our very best to answer them quickly and thoroughly.

Joey, CLASSIC.COM PRO

  • The Jeep CJ-8 was produced from 1981 to 1986, during which 27,792 units were built. The CJ-8 was based on the CJ-7 and enjoyed the same rough 'n' rugged genetics as its sibling, including the sturdy frame, T-case, and manual locking hubs. However, the CJ-8 added 10 in. to the wheelbase (103.5 in. vs. the CJ-7's 93.3 in.), making it a beloved companion for off-road adventure or service duty thanks to the ample cargo space.
  • This example has been restored and heavily modified and is equally prepared to capture eyes at the local car show and to tackle adverse overland conditions.
  • Modifications include a GM 5.3L LS1 V8, cold air intake, Optima Red Top battery, KyroFlow radiator, custom exhaust, matte green durable urethane exterior, custom full roll cage, crawler-style fenders, upgraded hubs, suspension lift, Dana 44 front axle, Ford 8.8 rear axle, M/T tires, custom dashboard with Speedhut gauges, and custom stereo.
  • The vehicle was noted to be registered with a salvage title in New Jersey in 1991, but underwent a comprehensive, professional rebuild in 2015 by reputable Jeep upfitter Novak Conversions. A receipt detailing the work performed can be found in the image gallery.
  • The seller notes a fluid leak from the transfer case, upholstery wear, that the air filter requires cleaning or replacement, and that the A/C is not fully functional.
  • Offered by the current owner, who took possession of the vehicle in 2016, with title, 1 set of keys, full hardtop and half doors, and receipts for restoration and modifications.

This looks fun. :)

@kingmoab: Seller states the Speedometer and Odometer were swapped and calibrated when the work was performed by Novak. 4,730mi showing currently. The same goes for the exterior & interior work; completed around the same time as the engine & drivetrain work. @carguyclay: I can assume that this is no Prius! I will try to find info on this, although I'm sure this was never calculated by the current owner. He uses the Smiles Per Mile metric :)

@CLASSICDOTCOM, thanks for providing the detail of the work completing by Novak. Do you know approximately how many miles were added since the engine swap, and approximately when the interior / exterior was refinished in the urethane?

@BOVALE6 No significant wear on the seats. They are in great shape.

@classicdotcom I see the cracking on the trim around the seat, but can you be more specific on the upholstery wear? The seats look to be in decent shape from the photos.
