1977 Chevy C20 Silverado
Thoroughly redesigned from stem to stern, the all-new third generation C/K trucks for 1973 proved to be the longest lived series in Chevrolet’s history and the three-box styling has proved quite popular since. Aside from wheels and hubcaps, there really wasn’t much that was round anywhere in the design other than the body sides that featured a sculpted character line with a central plateau panel as well as curved side glass, a first on a GM truck. Trim lines were also revamped, ranging from the entry-level Custom to the Custom Deluxe, Cheyenne and top-end Cheyenne Super. They were shuffled for 1975, with the Scottsdale moniker replacing the Cheyenne Super as the top-of-the-line package, while the Custom series was deleted. The next year, Chevy was back up to four trim lines with the addition of the Silverado at the top of the series. By and large, this remained the trim hierarchy for the remainder of series production.
What makes this C20 unique is that it features original paint, has some nice upgrades, is the highly desirable Mariner Blue/Light Blue color combo, it drives GREAT, and has only 111k miles from new! Any one of those highlights make for a great find but when you put all 5 together, you have a truck that you definitely don’t want to pass up. While the paint is not show quality by any means, it is original and shows nicely for a daily-drivable, 3/4 ton truck. It also shows that the body is straight and there is no body filler. What is currently not original is very close. For example, the truck came with a bench seat when new but a previous owner has obviously upgraded to a set of blue cloth buckets with a center jump seat. The upgraded Classic Industry gauges are much easy to read than the factory ones. By far the best feature of this particular truck is the way it drives. We take each vehicle on a 50 mile round trip drive and this C20 really impressed us. Everything works like it should and the truck starts, handles, steers, and brakes almost as good is it did when new. A complete list of features and options includes; 350 V8, Auto, 2wd, A/C, Tachometer, Factory Delco AM Radio, Buckets Seats, Center Console Storage, Dual Tanks, Rubber Floormats, Owners Manual, Power Steering & Brakes, Tilt Steering, Tinted Glass, Woodgrain Interior Trim, Vent Windows, New Carpet, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Mirrors, Sliding Rear Window, Tow Package, Spare Tire, 16″ Factory Wheels, Dog Dish Hubcaps, and Thick Raised White Letter 265/75/R16 Tires! This is a lot of truck for the money and compared to the newer Chevys, this C20 has a lot more character than anything you’ll find under $18k!
