With reverence around the globe for its iconic prowess and durability, it's hard to imagine there could possibly be an under-the-radar classic Land Cruiser. Alas, there's one that has alluded collectors and enthusiasts. It's not for the fast and the furious, but it is for the slow and the curious.

About the Land Cruiser FJ55 "Iron Pig"
With reverence around the globe for its iconic prowess and durability, it's hard to imagine there could possibly be an under-the-radar classic Land Cruiser. Alas, there's one that has alluded collectors and enthusiasts. It's not for the fast and the furious, but it is for the slow and the curious.
In 1967, Toyota split a wagon-style variation of the popular Land Cruiser FJ40 known as the FJ55. While the Land Cruiser FJ40 was a compact, adventure-oriented 4x4, the Land Cruiser FJ55 was more of a "fording the river, and through the deep forest to grandmothers house we go," family-oriented wagon.
In addition to its longer wheelbase, reconfigured front design, and ample inside seating, the FJ55 was distinguished by its rear door styling and powertrain options. The rear doors were your choice of either barn-door style, swing-out double-doors, or offered bottom hinged gate. You could also get your FJ55 with a 125 hp. 3.9L 6 cy. or, later, a 2F, 135 hp. 4.2L I6 gasser.
What is the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 Worth?
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 was produced domestically as a commercial van, but offered internationally as a wagon. Production figures amount to approximately 100k total units between the FJ55 and FJ56 throughout its run from 1967 to 1980. Because of the low production figures, heavy-duty use, and proclivity for rust, seldom do we see the FJ55 coming to market. In fact, data from CLASSIC.COM tabs just 36 units sold over the past 5 years with an average transaction price of about $35,000. However, valuation fluctuates based on the powertrain, location, rust, and restoration progress.
