The 2010 Mercedes-Benz G 55 AMG is already a brutally capable luxury rig, but this one for sale from The Barn Miami takes the performance up a notch or two. How? Glad you asked! This particular G-Wagen also includes a trick Fox adjustable racing suspension, a Brabus side exit exhaust, 22” wheels with big wide 37” Nitto Trail Grappler meats, and a G 63 brake upgrade all around. She’s mean. You can buy her for $74,900.
2010 Mercedes Benz G 55: A Beastly Off-Road Luxury Rig.
The G 55 is part of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, sometimes often called the G-Wagen. The G-Class was originally developed as a military off-roader at the suggestion of the Shah of Iran, who needed a tough, off-road ready military vehicle, but who was also a Mercedes Benz shareholder and superfan. The G-Class has unapologetic boxy styling with body-on-frame construction and boasts three fully locking differentials in the front, center and rear, making this an absolute animal offroad, despite its fancy appearance.
The 2010 G55 AMG is a hulking monster, with a GVWR of 6,614 lbs and 500 horsepower and 516 ft lb of torque. Introduced in the United States in 2002 when the G-Class came to America, the G 55 AMG took the standard G 500 and added side exhaust pipes, wider tires, AMG five-spoke wheels, a chrome tip at bottom of front bumper, AMG lettering in the rear–and most importantly, a supercharged V8 engine. The MSRP in 2010 was $122,700.
Despite the introduction of its replacement, the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, back in 2006, Mercedes is still cranking out the G-Wagen, which has become one of the longest-produced vehicles in Mercedes history, being made for over 40 years. Only the supreme beast, the Mercedes Unimog, surpasses it.
