It’s Legacy’s 116th build, but to us it’s easily #1.

Despite selling 95,145 Dodge Power Wagons in the United States through its 22-year production run, seeing one of these baddies is super rare. And there are almost zero Power Wagons that are as nice as this Power Wagon. 

The history of the Dodge Power Wagon begins with Dodge's 3/4-ton WC series of World War II military rigs. Their experience building these beastly wartime vehicles was leveraged to produce “the truck that needs no roads,” which is how they introduced it to the civilian buyer. 

But that wasn’t the only way Chrysler marketed the Power Wagon. When the Power Wagon was introduced in January 1946, they described it as a “one-ton general-purpose truck designed for off-highway operations on unimproved roads.” Likely due to the model’s military pedigree, the first Power Wagon sales brochure called it "The Army truck the boys wrote home about ... now redesigned for peacetime use."

They went on to say, "The Dodge Power-Wagon is without competition. No other truck manufacturer offers a model that is at all comparable. The Dodge Power Wagon was designed and built to meet a definite need. It is a vehicle built for continuous operation under extreme conditions. Four-wheel-drive gives it tractive ability for off-the-road service that would stall an ordinary truck. It takes you places you wouldn't expect any truck to go."

They also smartly zeroed in on farmers as a target audience, touting the Power Wagon in a number of fun ways. And it worked, these things were (and to some extent still are) staples in farms across the United States.
