Exterior Overview
The Hilux Surf is a truck-based SUV for people who appreciate the way things used to be. This 1995 is tough, reliable, and straightforward in its design. Finished in a classic Toyota Black (204), this five-seater is set off by wide 15″ aftermarket alloys, OEM rainguards, chrome bumpers, chrome mirror caps, a stylish OEM spoiler, and beefy 33″ Falken tires. Aside from some dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in fine shape, and this turbodiesel 4×4 is fresh off a recent service. Boasting a mere 135k verified and documented miles on the clock, this terrific Toyota is barely broken in. Efficient, fun to drive, and capable trucks like these are certified Japanese Classics that can be driven daily, and off-roaded with ease.

Interior Overview
The 2nd-gen Surf features a simple cabin design that has aged gracefully. This one looks a bit more modern as the OEM radio was replaced by a Pioneer touchscreen headunit. It includes Bluetooth integration so you can keep your hands safely on the wheel when you motor. The driver can find the ideal seating position thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column and adjustable lumbar support. Power windows, power locks, and power mirrors all function in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more manageable. The rear hatch glass powers down, too, should you have some lengthy 2x4s from Home Depot to transport. The rear tailgate drops down like a pickup and makes for a handy seat by the campfire. The blue and black cloth upholstery is in good condition. The material lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is mirrored in the door cards. The headliner and carpets are in good shape, and aside from some dash cracks, it’s hard to complain about the interior. Even the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets are included with the purchase of this vehicle.

Mechanical Overview
Built atop a tough ladder chassis, this SUV can withstand tons of abuse. We wanted to note that this one has as clean a frame as any in recent memory. 1KZ-TE that powers this Surf is equally resilient, too. It runs flawlessly as we had the ECU professionally rebuilt. The repaired engine control also receives a lifetime transferable warranty through our professional rebuilder, Japanese ECU Repair. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L churns to life instantly, care of two new 12v batteries. A new fuel filter is always taken care of on any diesel we retail, and we have also replaced the fuel filter. A new engine air filter was installed, and the 1K feels hearty as a horse. It pulls hard to redline and the automatic gearbox shifts smoothly. It’s peppy about town and cruises at highway speeds with confidence. It slows down promptly and benefits from new front brake pads, new front brake discs, and new rear brake shoes. The suspension feel is predictable, and new rear shock bushings were installed to freshen up the Surf. The power steering is direct, and the wheels are wrapped in brand-new 33″ Falken rubber. Freshly aligned, this truck tracks straight as an arrow, and the new rubber should provide grip for tens of thousands of miles to come. Handome, tough, and inexpensive to own, this rig is an absolute gem!
