About the Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler
Despite its short production run from 1981 to 1986 yielding just 27,792 units, the Jeep CJ-8, dubbed the "Scrambler" due to most employing the eponymous trim package, has earned its status as a legendary Jeep.
The CJ-8 was based on the CJ-7 and enjoyed the same rough and rugged genetics as its sibling including the sturdy frame, t-case, and manual locking hubs. However, the CJ-8 added 10 in. to the wheelbase (103.5 in. vs. the CJ-7's 93.3 in.), making it beloved companion for off-road adventure or service duty thanks to the ample cargo space. Throughout its production, various engine options were offered, including a 2.3L Isuzu diesel, the popular 4.2L I6, and the big 5.0L V8 that was only available in the CJ-8's first year.
Features & Specifications
Due to the low production numbers, finding a CJ-8 on the open market is an uncommon treat. While many caretakers go to extreme lengths to maintain the factory specs, this particular example offers a series of thoughtful, practical, and downright cool modifications to make it a one-of-a-kind grab. The LS1 V8 is a downright badass upgrade that offers a substantial upgrade to power, while the urthane Trailcoat coating upgraded locking hubs, suspension lift, M/T tires, LED lighting, and roll cage offer some serious off-roading prowess.
