Between the insane restomods of 1st Generation Broncos approaching a quarter million dollars and the hype surrounding the all-new Broncos, the 3rd Generation Ford Bronco – those built from 1980-1986 – are a relative steal.
Loaded with vintage Ford truck charm, massive displacement, and that iconic Bullnose front, the 3rd Generation Bronco is not one that enthusiasts should overlook. Especially one that has been as tastefully restored as this one from Merritt Motors. Best of all, it’s available soon for $35,000.
BULLNOSE FORD BRONCO FOR SALE.
As the 80s transpired, demand for smaller, lower-cost yet well-performing 4x4s like the Jeep CJ, S-10 Blazer, and GMC S-15 Jimmy were taking their slice of the market, and eventually yielded the compact Bronco II for the 1982 model year and a revised full-sized Bronco for the 1987 model year.
But in the early 80s, the 3rd Generation Ford Bronco was king. It was a well-thought-out truck with smooth suspension, improved features and options, new trims (notably the Eddie Bauer Edition for the 1985 model year), and a couple of real solid engine options. In total, 322k models were sold during its run from 1980-1986.
The XLT/XLT Lariat models like this one were the premium trim offering high-end features like chrome accents, plush carpeting, color-keyed upholstery, and simulated leather-wrapped steering wheel.
