A Long Travel Toyota Tundra Built for the Desert
Introduced in mid-1999 as a 2000 model, the Toyota Tundra was the successor of the T100, Toyota’s first full-size pickup. The Tundra was the first full-size pickup from a Japanese manufacturer to be built in North America, hailing initially from Toyota’s Princeton, IN plant and now being churned out from the San Antonio, TX factory. The Tundra, initially slated to be the T150 (until Ford objected), was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year and was Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year in its inaugural year.
The Tundra was designed and built as a workhorse, with a powerful V8 motor, a curb weight of nearly 5,000 lbs and a towing capacity of up to 7,000 in the double cab configuration. But this particular Tundra is built for play. We love this build. This is a Tundra SR5 4x4 in a double cab configuration. It has 295,000 miles on the odometer, one of the few negatives about this truck, but it is a Toyota, so with proper maintenance it will go forever.
