1964 Volkswagen T1 Kombi powered by the 2.1L 4 cylinder boxer engine producing a lot more power than originally

The Volkswagen T1, introduced in 1950, is an iconic symbol of freedom and adventure, often referred to as the VW Bus or Microbus. This versatile vehicle quickly became a beloved classic, renowned for its distinctive rounded shape, split windshield, and versatile interior configurations. By the time production of the T1 ended in 1967, it had become a cultural icon, particularly associated with the 1960s counterculture movement. The T1 was powered by an air-cooled, 1.2 to 1.5-liter flat-four engine, delivering modest power but unmatched charm and reliability. Its spacious and adaptable interior made it a favorite for families, businesses, and adventurers alike. The Volkswagen T1 embodies a spirit of fun and practicality, making it a timeless choice for those who appreciate classic design and the joy of the open road. Owning a VW T1 means embracing a piece of automotive history that continues to capture hearts and inspire journeys worldwide.

The Volkswagen T1 which we are presenting here today is no ordinary T1 anymore. She may look cute but underneath her skin she is far from cute with her heavily modified engine, brakes, etc. We sourced her from Italy where she underwent a complete overhaul several years ago, cosmetically as well as mechanically. She will just about impress absolutely everyone. She is from late 1964 meaning that she is a 1965 model year and is still an original Kombi, referring to the seat layout, doors, windows, etc.

During her overhaul, there was not a single inch of this T1 that was left untouched. Her bodywork was restored to a high level in this classic two-tone blue and white paint. With her lowering springs and Porsche Fuchs wheels, she certainly has a different look compared to other T1’s on the road. Our personal favorite has to be the cool roof rack with ladder for easy access. Perfect to store all of your camping gear on your next trip with family and friends.

Inside you will find an equally as amazing interior, finished in white to match her exterior. The seats are all in great condition, but as they are benches, they add to the quirky driving feel. Especially for the people on the front row as they sit on top of the front wheels. During her overhaul a lot of details were left original, which is what we really like.

Mechanically she can keep up with many sports cars of its time. She has been fitted with a 1.6L engine that was fully built by Shelton Racing & Performance to a 2.1L unit. She really goes… Mated to this upgraded engine is a smooth shifting 4 speed gearbox. With all of this power, you need good brakes to stop. That is why you will find front Wilwood brakes and discs.

If you are looking for the perfect adventure mobile to go away with family and friends, then look no further. The Volkswagen T1 Kombi which we are presenting here today will impress everyone. So what are you waiting for? Get in touch now and fall in love with this T1…
