1992 Mitsubishi Delica L300 Chamonix

Sold! $17,900 | DELICA USA | PHILADELPHIA, PA

Apparently the name “Delica” comes from combining the words “Delivery” and “Car.” The only thing this 1992 Mitsubishi Delica L300 Chamonix will be delivering is joy. To you. When you buy it from Delica USA out of Philadelphia, PA.

This Delica is probably one of the cleanest early 90s examples we’ve seen, having only 102,000 miles and a decidedly off-road ready stance including some new aftermarket wheels and tires, making it feel like a great deal at $17,900.

It’s just yearning for you to take it past where the pavement ends.

The Model.

The Mitsubishi Delica is a range of vans and pickup trucks designed and built by Mitsubishi Motors, first arriving on the scene in 1968. Up until 1994, it was an extremely boxy truck with a mid-front engine layout, with the power plant hiding neatly under the passenger seat.

This particular example is a 3rd generation model, which was still boxy, yet a bit more aerodynamic than previous versions, often referred to as “soft cube” styling by Mitsubishi. It was a monocoque body and integrated more safety features than the previous Delica generations.

This is also a sought after Chamonix model, named after the fabled community in the Alps of southeastern France where the first Winter Olympics were held in 1924. I honestly don’t know much more about why Mitsubishi chose that name and how it connects to the vehicle, but it does mean this model is equipped with dual batteries, thick, quirkily-styled argyle patterned carpets, more durable interior materials, and a front skid plate.

It's not a Chamonix, but listen to Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire tell you why he and his wife positively adore their Delica.
