2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

SOLD | RPM GARAGE | DALLAS, TX

This chunky beast is purpose-built for the offroad, and ever so patiently waiting for its next owner. It’s a nicely modified 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser for sale out of Dallas, Texas from RPM Garage for the low price of $18,991. Despite having just a tick under 200,000 miles, this FJC has been meticulously cared for, making this a screaming deal as far as we’re concerned. We can’t even believe it hasn’t sold before we got this written and posted.

The Model.

Those in the know know about the FJ40, the legendary Land Cruiser series from Toyota that was produced from 1960 all the way to 1984. It was a capable, but simplistic rig that had rugged good looks and a timeless appeal that is demonstrated by the high demand and market values that they command today. (More on this available over on classic.com)

As the FJ40 series production neared completion, the market was calling for a larger, more luxurious vehicle, so Toyota began to skew the Land Cruiser into that territory over time. In the mid to late 90s, product planners at Toyota began to look to fill the void left by the Land Cruiser’s growth with a more modern version of the FJ40. The FJ Cruiser, often dubbed the FJC, was to be the spiritual successor to the FJ40’s throne.

When the FJ Cruiser debuted in 2003 at the Detroit Auto Show, its styling was a hit with the automotive press and with the fourbie-loving public, despite showing next to more flashy concepts like the Cadillac Sixteen and Dodge Tomahawk. It looked to the future, for sure, but more than anything, it hearkened back to the utility of the FJ40 and even included some of the iconic design traits of the FJ40 like its signature grille and rounded headlights.

It looked super cool, but it also had the offroad chops that the market was looking for. In its development, Toyota put the FJC thoroughly through its paces. Their development mules, which cost hundreds of thousands to build, were taken to some of the most difficult trails in North America for testing and tuning, including Moab, Utah, the Angeles National Forest, the Mojave Desert and the vaunted Rubicon Trail. The work paid off.

We could drone on, but fortunately our friends at Donut Media are going to get you up to speed in an extremely entertaining 12 minutes and 44 seconds. They cover its offroad abilities pretty well starting at around 7:40.
