I've built a lot of custom Scouts in my career, but this one's special—and as I write this, I'm kicking myself for being crazy enough to sell it. Welcome to my auction of this highly custom 1977 International Harvester Super Scout II (SSII). This is one that I originally brought in as a customer car, but ended up acquiring it from them and built it for myself. This restomod has well over 1,000 man hours in it, and no expense was spared throughout the restoration, as you can see from the detailed description, extensive photos, and videos below. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions. I'm excited about seeing this one go to someone who will love it as much as I have.

- Tony Clark, Silverback Custom Works

  • Of the approximately 270k+ International Harvester Scout II's built from 1973 to their unfortunate end in 1980, only approximately 4,000 total Super Scout II's (SSII) were sold, making it one of the rarer and more highly-desirable trims available.
  • The SSII hit dealer lots in January 1977 and offered a set of substantial off-road upgrades over the standard Scout II, including an open-body with door inserts, two-speed transfer case (a single-speed was standard on the regular Scout II), upgraded skid plates, and roll-bar.
  • This particular example from the 1977 model year has been extensively restored inside and out. Power comes from a 5.3L LS V8 modified with upgraded intake, injectors, stainless steel headers, and double-pass radiator, which is mated to a 4L60E automatic transmission and 2-speed Dana 20 transfer case.
  • Following complete remediation of the limited rust, the body tub was painted with industrial rust inhibitor and Raptor Bedliner. The exterior benefits from 3-stage paint, finished in 99K Black with custom stripe and complete G2 clear coat.
  • Modifications include two-chamber exhaust system, heavy duty custom steering linkages, Hydraboost brake system, 35 in. tires, Moto Metal off-road wheels, 4 in. suspension lift, full LED conversion, custom bumpers, 9,500 lb. front winch, custom heavy-duty side steps, new soft top and door skins, and custom tailgate finish.
  • Inside, passengers benefit from two layers of heat insulation and sound deadening, custom BedRug, Bestop Trailmax seats, Dakota Digital gauges, Tuffy Security console box, upgraded Kenwood sound system, 3-point retractable seatbelts, and more.

@NewEra: An SOA conversion does give you the need lift and stock ride, but definitely not the stability at high speeds that I was after with this build. This build provides highway stability on curves that was my main concern.

On a build of this caliber what is the advantage of using 4" lift springs instead of doing a spring over? Wouldn't it ride better with the stock springs?

What a BUILD!

This is a beautiful SS2 🤩 It has a top and doors, most I've seen on the market in the past don't have any top or doors included in the sale.
