For those looking for a unique way to expand their hauling business or simply show off lugging around their own toys, look no further, this Isuzu NPR Dekotora is it! Built in Japan, this art truck is set off by a custom stainless front bumper, one-off sun visor, custom extensions for the aftermarket side mirrors, and of course a prominent insignia below the front grille. The party doesn’t stop at just the fascia, as custom lights and flashers extend all the way down the cab and bed, where a Mickey and Minnie Mouse mural adorns the rear. The cab is finished in a one-off Majestic Purple, while the frame and under-chassis are painted in Dekotora red. Save for some scratches, peeling, and other miscellaneous paint defects, this custom utility truck is frankly hard to complain about, and aside from some bulbs and CFL tubes giving up the ghost this hauler is still capable of turning heads everywhere it goes. The odometer reads 111k miles, however, they are unverified. Powered by a bulletproof 4.8l diesel drivetrain, this truck feels barely broken in and is perfect to take to shows or a drift event, in case emergency recovery is needed. Dekotora is a timeless Japanese style, so why wouldn’t we call this truck a Japanese Classic?

Contrary to the exterior, the interior remains fairly barebones aside from a metal chandelier affixed to the headliner. Controls for the lights are mounted adjacent to the shifter, and automatic climate control can be found directly above. The A/C cools the cabin and heat is available for winter. The hard plastics in the cabin are in decent shape although the dash cover was drilled into in the past. Still, the matching purple door cards are in good nick, and the stout tweed upholstery is free of any unwanted rips, stains, or tears. Aiding daily use, both power windows and locks work like a charm. For those flying solo, the passenger seat can fold flat into a tray table to stow your belongings. That’s not to say the cabin is perfect as we wanted to note the Alpine head unit is nonfunctional. Simple to navigate and well-appointed for show use, it’s hard to find much to complain about inside. It even includes the all weather floor mat and owners manuals from Japan.

Meant to last for the long haul, the 4HE1 that powers this beast is a brute that’s a treat to own and service. Mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, this drivetrain is fresh off a recent service and cranks over with haste care of 2 new batteries. A fresh oil and filter service, as well as a new fuel filter address any lubrication concerns, and we also installed a new water pump on this Dekotora to keep temperatures at bay. Power is linear and capable of highway speeds and the six-speed gearbox is easy to operate without any noticeable hitches or grinds. Ideal for use as a tow truck or parts hauler, the 7’x16′ bed tilts back seamlessly and the controls are easy to operate and get used to. A functional winch runs off the same PTO and can be engaged to drag a car upward onto the bed. Power steering makes maneuvering this massive thing stress-free and the brakes confidently slow this thing down with ease. With new tires mounted and balanced all the way around, this NPR is primed and ready for tens of thousands of show stopping miles to come!
