Small but mighty, this 1996 Suzuki Jimny is a true 4×4 down to its DNA. Underpinned by straight axles and a ladder frame, the platform is robust and able to handle abuse. Outside, this SUV is in good nick too, aside from some normal scuffs, chips, and dings associated with normal use. Finished in Dark Turquoise Pearl (Y33) this pocket-sized SUV is set off by a set of OEM rainguards, diamond plate accents, LED tail lights, and gunmetal JB43 factory alloys. This little rig gets more looks than vehicles five times its price, and this one is turn-key ready to roll, and is fresh off a recent service. Having logged only 90k verified and documented miles, this baby is barely broken in. Ideal for an off-road excursion, this Jimny can also pull dual duty running errands about town or grabbing the little ones from soccer practice. Easy to service, capable, and reliable, this tough little Japanese Classic is a whole lot of value for the money and turns more than a few heads, as well!

Tired of driving a rolling computer and overcomplicated interiors? The Jimny has you covered, and has all the things you need and nothing you don’t! The interior is in above average shape and upgrades include some fancy leather seat covers and a modern Alpine radio upgrade. The dashboard lacks any cracking or distortion and the gauges are easy to read at a glance. Even better, this example is equipped with factory air conditioning. While it will never feel like Siberia inside, it does help during these dog days of summer. For the winter months, heat on hand as well. If you prefer natural ventilation, the crank windows slide down with ease and supplement the cabin with a light breeze. The door cards and carpets are in fair shape as is the headliner and overall it appears the cabin was taken care of properly in a prior life. For additional cargo needs the rear seats fold forward tidily and the side-hinged rear door opens for a wide loading berth. We even retained the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets for some added history on this ‘zuki.

Powered by the same engine as our domestic Samurai’s, this Jimny is fresh off an oil and filter change. Unlike 660cc displacement versions, this JB32 is capable of maintaining higher speeds and can be used outside of the city. The G13B feels as hearty as a horse and benefits from a few oil leak fixes. One of our trained techs has resealed the oil pan and replaced the distributor o-ring. We didn’t stop there as we wanted to further refresh the driveline. The transmission pan was resealed and the automatic works just as it should, and makes good use of the four-banger powerband. Torque can be fed to the rear wheels or both axles depending on the driver’s preference. The front hubs can be manually locked and the transfer case also has a low-range setting for muddy trails or the occasional beach cruise. The brakes are confident and the power steering is light yet connected. The suspension was reworked in Japan with new shocks and springs at some point and the previous owner also installed tubular lower control arms and adjustable panhard bars. It drives better than you would expect on pavement and offers an approach that’s second to none. To complete the Jimny we mounted and balanced massive 31″ Nexens at each corner. Freshly aligned the Jimny drives straight as an arrow and the new rubber will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
