  • The Jeep Wagoneer SJ was one of the first luxury SUVs to hit the auto market in the U.S., designed by famed industrial designer Brooks Stevens and released for the 1963 model year. In 1984, Jeep renamed its upmarket variation of the Wagoneer to "Grand Wagoneer." The Jeep Grand Wagoneer SJ was offered until the discontinuation of the Wagoneer in 1991.
  • To commemorate the final year of production, buyers of the Grand Wagoneer built after the the discontinuation was announced on February 27, 1991 had the option to add a gold "Final Edition" badge on the dashboard. Only 4,253 total Grand Wagoneers were built in 1991, but an unknown number were equipped with the optional plaque.
  • This example is powered by its original AMC 5.9L (360 ci.) V8 engine, which is mated to a TorqueFlite 727 3-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive. The odometer shows a total of 100,803 original miles.
  • Finished in Midnight Blue Metallic with iconic, original woodgrain vinyl flanking both sides - a highly desired combination among Jeep enthusiasts and collectors. It features a roof rack, fog lights, tow package, air conditioning, power windows, locks, and mirrors, overhead console including retractable tailgate window, and thick shag carpeting throughout.
  • The CARFAX dates back to 05/91 and shows an accident free history, along with ownership in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and finally California, starting in approximately 06/04.
  • Recent service and maintenance includes new BF Goodrich KO2 tires, new shocks, new power steering pump, recent oil change, new front brakes, new belts, new battery, battery cables, and terminals, A/C system servicing, new air filter, new carburetor, cleaned gas tank, new fuel sending unit, new fuel lines, new spark plugs, and new spark plug wires.
  • The seller notes cosmetic flaws including rust on rear lower fenders and rust below both rear cargo windows. Additionally, the Midnight Blue Metallic paint is experiencing clear coat failure in several spots, fade on the vinyl woodgrain trim, a tear in the driver's seat, cracking to all leather seats, and steering wheel wear.
  • Clean California title included in the sale, along with service documentation and two sets of keys. The vehicle passed California smog check 07/23.

@rcjames: I'm right there with you man. The sequels are never as good as the Originals. When I bought this Jeep I was thinking it would be a great candidate for an LS swap. I just haven't been able to make the time for a build of that level.

Cool piece of history. I'd rather have this one done up right than a new one - especially if you popped in an LS or LT like the one listed here on classified a few days back.

@Figg: Thanks so much! Yes the dark blue with wood and tan interior is probably the best color combo in my humble opinion. Yes all the power windows operate properly including the tailgate window! Take a look at the video I attached here on the page I demonstrate all the windows going up and down. Thanks for the great question!

@JeepinJack: Thanks so much! I have owned many Grand Wagoneers over the years but this is the first badged Final Edition I have ever had. They are very hard to find indeed, especially with the original shag carpets in such nice condition.
Figg Bidder

@LUKE83 Wow, the wood & blue exterior is mighty compelling. Are all windows operable?

What a find - don't think I've seen a badged example in person. Got to love the shag carpet. GLWA
