This 1963 Nissan Patrol is a rare and highly collectible early 4x4, representing one of the few examples sold new in the United States between 1962 and 1969. This particular truck was originally purchased new from Gardena Datsun in California and spent most of its life on the West Coast, providing an excellent foundation for the extensive, high-quality build it wears today.
While its classic Patrol roots remain intact, this truck has been comprehensively upgraded into a serious off-road and trail-capable machine. Power comes from a 302 Ford V8 equipped with throttle-body fuel injection, delivering reliable performance and improved drivability. The engine is backed by an AOD automatic transmission with a B&M lockup converter, providing strength, smooth operation, and highway-friendly gearing. An Atlas transfer case manages power distribution with true off-road credibility.
The drivetrain is built to handle extreme use, featuring a Dana 44 front differential with ARB air locker and a Ford 9-inch rear end with a billet third member and Detroit locker. Stopping power and control are handled by four-wheel hydro-boost power disc brakes, while power steering ensures manageable handling despite the aggressive setup.
Additional upgrades include a 20-gallon fuel cell, 6-point roll cage, custom front and rear bumpers, armored skid plates protecting the drivetrain, and Pro Comp Ultra-Lite Auto Meter gauges. The truck rides on five new 40-inch M/T Baja tires mounted on 17x9.5 Black Rhino wheels, giving it an imposing stance and serious off-road capability.
