Better photos lead to more serious buyers and stronger offers. Use this guide to capture the angles, details, condition, and documentation buyers need.

How to Get Your Listing Right

Strong listings aren't about having the best camera. They're about covering the right angles, showing the real condition, and giving buyers enough to make a confident decision.

What to Do

  • Shoot 50+ landscape photos (3:2 preferred)
  • Capture exterior, interior, engine, and undercarriage
  • Include documentation and included parts
  • Show all visible flaws clearly
  • Add 1–3 short videos (optional but recommended)
  • Use natural light (morning or evening)
  • Clean the vehicle before shooting
  • Use a clean, uncluttered background
  • Keep framing level and consistent

What to Avoid

  • Too few photos
  • Vertical photos
  • Blurry or low-resolution images
  • Nighttime or poor lighting
  • Missing key angles (especially undercarriage)
  • Skipping interior details
  • Not showing mileage
  • Hiding flaws
  • Cluttered or distracting backgrounds

The best listings show the whole vehicle clearly: the good, the bad, the details, and the documentation. Use the checklist below as your baseline.

Start with full-vehicle angles, then move into details. Buyers want to understand overall condition first, then the specifics—trim, wheels, glass, and any visible damage.

  • Seats from passenger side
  • Rear row or rows
  • Stitching and seat details
  • Steering wheel
  • Gauge cluster with mileage shown

Engine, Underside & Mechanical Photos

For 4×4s and trucks, underside photos are non-negotiable. Buyers expect to see the frame, suspension, and drivetrain — and a clean undercarriage is one of the strongest signals of a well-maintained vehicle.

  • Engine bay, multiple angles
  • Under vehicle from front
  • Under vehicle from rear
  • Under vehicle from left side
  • Under vehicle from right side
  • Frame rails
  • Suspension components
  • Axles and differential housings
  • Transfer case area, where visible
  • Exhaust
  • Skid plates
  • Installed aftermarket parts and accessories
  • Any visible leaks, corrosion, damage, or repairs

Documentation, Extras & Included Parts

Documentation adds credibility. Service history, receipts, and original paperwork help buyers trust what they're buying — and can directly affect the sale price.

  • Factory window sticker, if available
  • Keys
  • Service records
  • Receipts
  • Manuals
  • Build sheets
  • Recent inspection paperwork
  • Spare parts included in sale
  • Removed factory parts included in sale
  • Aftermarket accessories included with the vehicle

Condition & Flaws

Showing flaws does not hurt a listing. Hiding them does. Clear condition photos reduce back-and-forth, filter out unserious buyers, and give the right buyer the confidence to move fast.

  • Scratches
  • Dings
  • Paint chips
  • Rust
  • Seat wear
  • Cracked trim
  • Stains
  • Torn upholstery
  • Broken or missing parts
  • Leaks
  • Warning lights
  • Any known issue that a buyer would notice in person

Filming Tips

  • Keep videos short and clear
