The builder calls it a functional sculpture, and frankly we’re inclined to agree. For sale by ICON out of Los Angeles, California is this insane 1965 Ford Factory Crew Cab F-250. It’s an epic restomod that takes an already stout classic truck and cranks it up to 11 by way of a frame off, bare metal restoration paired with modern touches like a Banks modified 24V 5.9 Liter Cummins Turbo Diesel motor and a killer Kore coilover front suspension and rear leaf w/Fox shocks setup in the rear.
ICON has cut no corners and spared no expense with this build, so it stands to reason that this thing will command a pretty penny, especially in today’s market. You’ll have to contact them to find out exactly what they’re looking to get for it, but ICON acknowledges it’s expensive. (Worth it)
A 4th Generation Ford F-250 Crew Cab, Dialed In.
The fourth generation Ford F-250 is already a pretty incredible rig. Built from the 1961 to 1966 model years it was lower and wider than the 3rd generation Ford trucks, and was distinguished by bedsides matching the hood line and window sill in height, as well as a return to a two headlight configuration, a change Ford stuck with for over 50 years.
It’s a great foundation for what ICON in turn turned this into. This special F-250 is an Icon Reformer project. What’s that mean? Glad you asked. Using ICON’s own words to describe it, the Reformer models…
“Take timeless classic vehicles from any maker, from almost any era, then re-imagine them for modern use. Stay faithful to the original aesthetic design, and in some cases ask what was the purest intended form of the design in the eyes of the original designer, before the business priorities made sacrifices in design and detail, then rewrite history. Eliminate the archaic mechanical elements to allow users to get the best of both worlds; classic styling and modern performance. to create a daily driver with timeless style, modern functionality and environmental consciousness.”
