Ranger Danger: The Premium Ford F-150 Ranger XLT.
This F-150 Ranger XLT is a part of the sixth-generation Ford F-Series, which was introduced to the United States for the 1973 model year and ran through 1979. Affectionately known by Ford fanatics as the Dentside due to the characteristic horizontal dent that runs along the length of the body.
It’s also part of the F-150 model series of 1/2 ton chassis pickups, which first debuted in 1975, slotting in the space between the F-100 and the F-250. It was often referred to as a "heavy-duty" F-100 due to its larger payload, which allowed it to avoid certain emission control restrictions like catalytic converters. Sixth generation F-Series models could be outfitted with three available trim levels: The entry-level Custom; the mid-level Ranger; and the top-of-the-line Ranger XLT (like this example) and Ranger Lariat.
Like most classic pickup trucks, the market is hot for these right now, and values are way up. According to Classic.com, the average rolling auction value for the 6th Generation Ford F-Series has increased 12.5% in just the last year! This one is a bit higher than the one-year rolling average, but a quick browse through the comps shows you that the asking price for this one is right on target.
