The 1982 Nissan Patrol LG61 is a long-wheelbase example of the 4x4 that served for two decades as Nissan's direct answer to the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Land Rover. The 61 series, built from 1980 to 1984, carried the classic 60-series body on updated running gear, and this one wears its workhorse character openly: a red body under a white top, a roof rack overhead, narrow tires, and rear barn doors that give it the ambulance-style look these long-wheelbase Patrols are known for. Patrols of this era were never officially sold in the US, which makes any example here an uncommon sight.

Power comes from the P40, Nissan's 4.0-liter overhead-valve inline-six and the factory gas engine for the 61-series Patrol, said to remain original to this truck. It drives through a manual gearbox and a two-speed transfer case with part-time four-wheel drive, turning 3.55 gears, with drum brakes at all four corners. There is nothing electronic between the driver and the drivetrain here it is the simple, serviceable mechanical package that built the Patrol's reputation as a durable, capable truck in the parts of the world that actually needed one.

Inside, the layout is honest and utilitarian. A white vinyl bench seat runs across the front, and the rear is fitted with troop-style seating along the sides of the cargo area, the configuration that gives these long-wheelbase Patrols their character and their nickname. Combined with the narrow tires and the tall, upright body, it presents as a truck built for duty rather than show, and it has aged into something genuinely interesting to look at.

This Patrol is said to have spent most of its life in Cali, Colombia, on a coffee plantation before being imported into the US in 2022. It is easy to see why it stands out: the 60/61-series Patrol was engineered to go head-to-head with the Land Cruiser FJ of its day, and while FJ40 values have climbed out of reach, the Patrol remains the under-the-radar alternative among analog Japanese 4x4s. It is common for people to tell the current owner it is the first Nissan Patrol they have ever seen in person, and for a US buyer that rarity is a large part of the appeal.
