After seeing the Willys MB Jeep roam freely around Europe during World War II, Merry Old England and her Rover Company saw it fit to create their very own off-road capable utility vehicle. As a result, the first Land Rover, later called the Series I, was introduced in 1948 and deployed immediately for military, agricultural, and industrial purposes.
Over the subsequent decades, Land Rover persevered and built a name for itself by pushing capability to the extreme, and in the process created legendary 4x4s like the Defender, Discovery, and Range Rover. To celebrate their achievements, Land Rover released only 1,071 50th Anniversary Defenders were released across the globe for the 1998 model year, making it one of the rarer Defender variations available. These models were largely NAS spec, and included standard features like a 4-speed ZF automatic transmission, the 188 hp. 4.0L Rover V8, air conditioning, and a partial roll cage.

The inside is also mostly original, save for an aftermarket Pioneer Carrozzeria stereo with Bluetooth. The gray upholstery, carpet, and headliner are all in good condition. It offers air conditioning and heat, pop-up sunroof, and retractable rear jump seats.
Power comes from a factory-rated 188 hp. 4.0L Rover V8 motor mated to ZF 4-speed automatic transmission, dual-range transfer case, and a locking center differential. The 16 in. OEM alloy wheels are wrapped 255/85/16 BF Goodrich M/T tires.
