To say the 100 series Land Cruiser was Toyota's best release in the 90s is not an understatement. We truly believe in these trucks. They're capable, durable, and have incredible build quality that extends far beneath the skin.

Exterior Overview
To say the 100 series Land Cruiser was Toyota’s best release in the 90s is not an understatement. We truly believe in these trucks. They’re capable, durable, and have incredible build quality that extends far beneath the skin. Ask any brand loyalist in the US and they’ll tell you the same thing, but our 1999 VX Limited has the options, mileage, and condition to put stateside examples to shame. Finished in White Pearl (057), it looks the part, set off by subtle aftermarket fender flares, OEM rainguards, a rear hitch receiver, and 18″ Mickey Thompson alloys. It’s also fresh off a recent service, and boasts a mere 116k verified and documented miles on the clock. It’s still a 25-year-old rig, so some minor rock chips, dings, and scuffs are to be expected, but that does little to take away from the overall appearance of this Cruiser. Clean, comfortable, and ready to rock, this turn-key Cruiser is a Japanese Classic, now and forever!

Interior Overview
For a body-on-frame truck that looks rather aggressive, it’s surprising how refined and sculpted the interior design is. This example was clearly well cared for in a prior life, as it features some useful amenities and upgrades to make daily driving a breeze. The seats are upholstered in tan cloth that was protected by seat covers in Japan. The upholstery is in good shape, and the front seats are heated. The soft-touch vinyl dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard. The driver can get comfortable behind a tilt-adjustable steering column, which is mated to a classy woodgrain steering wheel. The center stack is within arm’s reach and is chock full of useful amenities. Dual-zone climate control works like a charm, and an adjacent Pioneer headunit features Bluetooth capability to cycle your tunes in throughout the cabin. Power windows, locks, and mirrors work like a charm, and there’s a large power moonroof that can keep the cabin supplied with natural airflow. If you prefer to tailor the cabin’s temperature manually, cold A/C and hot heat are both operable. The rear bench can accommodate three additional passengers easily, and it folds forward if storage is a priority. The door cards, headliner, and carpet are tidy, and for a bit of added history, we’ve retained the original owner’s manual and maintenance booklet with the truck!

Mechanical Overview
The 2UZ-FE under the bonnet is a great powerplant. Easy to service, powerful and torquey, but smooth overall, this engine was built to take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’. We have had a comprehensive service performed to ensure you’re ready to hit the pavement from day one! For starters, we chucked in a new 12v battery to aid ignition, and this 4.7L is also fresh off an oil and filter service. The valve cover gaskets were replaced to shore up any unwanted leaks, and a new radiator was installed to help regulate temperatures. The engine air filter and fuel filter were replaced, and this full-sized SUV sails up to highway speeds in a snap. Toyota’s legendary full-time 4×4 is on full display if you need to venture off the beaten path, and low gearing can assist if you really become entrenched in tough terrain. The stock suspension handles like a charm and rides like a cloud compared to brutish older Cruisers. Next on the list was a steering rack rebuild, complete with new seals, bushings, and inner and outer tie rods. Of course, a fresh alignment was in order after that service, and we tossed on four new Falken tires to keep you covered for the road ahead. It’s hard to find any gripes with the 100 series chassis, and one trip behind the wheel is all it takes to realize why these bear Japanese Classic insignia.
