The truck was remanufactured and upfitted by Acela Truck Company in 2025 and now shows just 12,000 miles, pairing Caterpillar 7.2L turbo-diesel power with an Allison 7-speed automatic, high-speed gearing, 46-inch Goodyear MV/T tires, Central Tire Inflation, a 113-gallon fuel tank, and a torsion-free camper subframe. Behind the cab, the KRUG module brings 990Ah of 24V lithium storage, 1,400 watts of solar, dual Victron Quattro inverter/chargers, hydronic heat, rooftop A/C, 130 gallons of fresh water, full filtration, permanent sleeping space, a Miele-equipped kitchen, and an enclosed bath.
- Acela-Remanufactured Expedition Chassis: The Monterra GL was remanufactured and upfitted by Acela Truck Company in 2025, then paired with KRUG Expedition living module #246. High-speed gearing, an extended wheelbase, 46-inch tires, Central Tire Inflation, raised air intake, air brakes, and 22 inches of ground clearance give the truck the foundation expected of a purpose-built global expedition platform.
- Caterpillar Diesel and Allison 7-Speed: Power comes from a 7.2L Caterpillar turbo-diesel inline-six rated at 330 horsepower and 860 lb-ft of torque, backed by an Allison 3070SP 7-speed automatic. A 113-gallon aluminum fuel tank extends range, while the cooling-fan disconnect is designed to support water crossings up to 30 inches.
- KRUG Type C Living Module: The 4.9-meter / 16-foot KRUG module is built from insulated composite sandwich panels and mounted on a torsion-free subframe designed to isolate the living space from chassis flex. Inside, it is laid out for long-term travel with a permanent rear bed, convertible dinette, enclosed bathroom, full kitchen, panoramic roof hatch, and extensive built-in storage.
- Serious Off-Grid Power and Climate Control: A 990Ah 24V LiFePO4 battery bank works with 1,400 watts of solar and dual Victron Quattro inverter/chargers serving both 120V and 230V circuits. Climate control is equally comprehensive, with hydronic heating, a 5kW Webasto diesel heater, additional 9kW Webasto heater for high-altitude use, auxiliary air heater, Dometic RTX 2000 rooftop A/C, underfloor heating, and a Maxxair roof ventilator.
- Long-Range Water and Expedition Systems: The module carries 130 gallons of fresh water and 66 gallons of gray water, supported by three-stage filtration, PURION 1000 UV treatment, and a General Ecology Seagull IV X2 drinking-water system. Exterior storage, surround-view cameras, auxiliary lighting, Starlink preparation, remote electrical monitoring, and Atlas fold-out stairs round out a package built for extended self-sufficient travel.

KRUG’s expedition modules take that foundation in a more residential direction.
