About the 2nd Generation Tundra

Offered from 2007 to 2021, the 2nd Generation Tundra was a redesigned and modernized version of the original Tundra that took the market by storm starting in 1999. While the original Tundra was made in Toyota’s Princeton, Indiana manufacturing facility, production for the new Tundra was moved to San Antonio, Texas, where it remains today. The 2nd Generation Tundra was slightly longer than its older brother, adding up to 10 in. in overall length depending on your configuration.

Speaking of which, the 2nd Generation Tundra was sold as a 2-door regular cab, 4-door double cab, or 4-door crew cab. Powering the pickup was your choice of 4.0L V6 (until 2010), 4.6L V8 (starting in 2010), 4.7L (until 2009), and 5.7L V8 (starting in 2007), depending on year and trim. This generation lost the option for a manual transmission, but you could get either a 5-speed or 6-speed automatic and either 2-wheel drive of 4-wheel drive.

Why You Want a 2nd Gen. Tundra

With decades of generational loyalty under their belt, it's hard to imagine the average American buyer looking past the Chevrolet Silverado, the Ford F-Series, or the RAM lineup of full-sized pickups. But when it comes to selecting your pickup truck, there's only on thing that truly matters: performance.

From power to utility to reliability, the 2nd Generation packs a seriously impressive punch. The king-sized 5.7L i-FORCE V8 offered 381 hp. and towing up to 10,500 lbs., in league with its American counterparts. For 2016, it also had the largest fuel tank in its class with 38 gal. capacity, standard integrated trailer brake controller, and for 4WD examples, standard A-TRAC to mimic locking front and rear locking differentials. Additional safety and functionality options included an automatic limited slip differential, Toyota's Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), traction control, 4-wheel ABS, brake assist, eight airbags.

As a result of its outstanding features and reliability, the 2016 and 2017 Tundra, like this one for sale, was bequeathed with industry recognition including Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value, Excellent Value by IntelliChoice, and Edmunds.com Best Retained Value®Vehicle.

What is the 2nd Gen. Tundra Worth?

With an $18,000 pricetag, a clean CARFAX, reasonable mileage, and tasteful modifications, this Tundra SR5 Double Cab is a COMPLETE steal, offering tremendous value to a buyer in the market for a reliable daily driver, work truck, towing rig, or weekend excursion vehicle. Sales data tabbed by CLASSIC.COM for the 2nd Generation Tundra reflects a 5-year moving average sales price of approximately $30,300, while the wholesale value with mileage adjustment reflects a $22,000 pricepoint.

In a compressed pickup market where buyers are paying a premium for ready-to-go trucks, this Tundra is an absolute steal at $20,000 and offers instant equity to the buyer.

In other words, you won't want to sleep on this Tundra. Inquire today.
