This 1958 GMC 150 4×4 Stepside is far more than a restored classic. It's a purpose-built off-road truck that combines unmistakable Task Force-era styling with thoroughly modern drivetrain, suspension, and braking components. Completed in 2025, the build centers around a fuel-injected 6.2-liter V8, one-ton running gear, long-travel suspension, and premium aftermarket components throughout. Showing just 517 miles since completion, it offers vintage character with the capability and reliability expected from a modern trail machine.
  • Fresh 2025 Build: Completed in 2025 with just 517 miles showing since completion, this GMC blends classic 1958 styling with a comprehensively upgraded chassis, drivetrain, suspension, and interior.
  • Modern LS-Based Performance: Power comes from a fuel-injected 6.2-liter V8 installed in 2024 and upgraded with a performance camshaft, revised valve springs and lifters, FiTech electronic fuel injection, an Edelbrock intake manifold, MSD ignition, Champion aluminum radiator, and a 30-gallon fuel cell with an internal high-pressure fuel pump.
  • Serious Four-Wheel-Drive Hardware: A TCI-built Turbo 400 automatic with a 3,000-rpm stall converter, reverse manual valve body, and dedicated transmission cooler sends power through a legendary NP205 dual-range transfer case to one-ton axles equipped with 4.10 gears, Detroit lockers front and rear, Warn manual locking hubs, and long-travel driveshafts.
  • Built for the Trail: The custom suspension features a long-arm lift with remote-reservoir Fox coilovers, Bilstein adjustable bump stops, limiting straps, and an Antirock adjustable rear sway bar. Hydroboost-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, stainless brake lines, crossover steering, and a close-ratio steering box improve both capability and confidence on and off pavement.
  • Race-Inspired Interior: Black vinyl bucket seats with leopard-print inserts are complemented by six-point harnesses, a full roll cage, Vintage Air climate control, Sidewinder shifter, wood-rim steering wheel, ProComp GPS instrumentation, and thoughtfully finished pewter-painted interior panels.
Vintage 4x4 pickups are increasingly popular, but very few are engineered to this level. Rather than relying on cosmetic upgrades or mild suspension modifications, this build starts with proven heavy-duty components throughout. The combination of one-ton axles, Detroit lockers, NP205 transfer case, Fox suspension, hydroboost brakes, and a professionally prepared LS-based drivetrain creates a truck that's equally comfortable crawling technical trails, attending off-road events, or turning heads at local shows.

The styling remains unmistakably 1958 GMC, highlighted by its satin seafoam green finish, white roof and bumpers, classic Stepside bed, and period-correct silhouette. At the same time, modern fuel injection, air conditioning, GPS instrumentation, and upgraded steering make it dramatically more usable than an original truck.
