This Land Rover Series IIA 109 takes the unmistakable character of a long-wheelbase Series truck and pairs it with a significantly more usable restomod drivetrain. Completely restored and showing approximately 3,000 miles since completion, it is powered by a Chevrolet 350 V8 with MSD ignition, an automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive transfer case. A galvanized frame provides a strong foundation for the build, while air conditioning, an upgraded interior and other thoughtful additions make it far more accommodating than a stock Series Land Rover.

Finished in matte light blue with contrasting cream-colored wheels and roof, the 109 retains its wonderfully utilitarian Series-era appearance. The truck is currently with its second owner since the rebuild, has always been stored indoors, and is offered by a private seller in Birmingham, Alabama with Florida registration and title.
  • Chevy V8 Power: The centerpiece of the restomod is its Chevrolet 350 V8, replacing the modest factory powerplant with a substantial increase in usable power and torque. The engine is equipped with an MSD ignition system and is paired with an automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive transfer case. The engine bay presents cleanly, with upgraded electrical components and a modernized cooling arrangement visible as part of the conversion.
  • Galvanized Foundation: A galvanized frame sits beneath the body and is one of the more significant elements of the restoration. The photos show a clean undercarriage with traditisonal leaf-spring suspension and solid axles retained, preserving the basic architecture that defines a Series Land Rover while supporting the more powerful drivetrain.
  • Classic Series Style: The matte light blue finish works particularly well with the Series IIA's simple aluminum bodywork, upright windshield and long 109-inch proportions. Cream-colored steel wheels, a hood-mounted spare, galvanized-style front bumper, black diamond-plate lower body protection and oversized mud flaps reinforce its traditional utility-truck appearance. A full-length roof rack adds considerable carrying capacity and includes auxiliary lighting and mounts suitable for surfboards or other oversized gear. A front-mounted Warn winch adds another functional element to the build.
  • Upgraded Cabin: Inside, the cabin maintains the wonderfully simple layout of a Series Land Rover while incorporating several usability upgrades. Black seating contrasts with the light blue painted dashboard, while the front cabin includes an aftermarket center console with cupholders and additional controls. Air conditioning has also been incorporated into the restoration, a particularly welcome addition in a vintage Land Rover being offered in Alabama. The rear passenger area features additional seating, and the interior has been finished with durable surfaces appropriate for a vehicle designed to be used rather than simply displayed.
  • Built For Adventure: The long-wheelbase 109 configuration provides considerably more passenger and cargo room than its short-wheelbase Series counterparts, and this particular build leans into that versatility. The roof rack, winch, all-terrain tires and four-wheel-drive drivetrain give it genuine adventure appeal, while the V8, automatic transmission and air conditioning address several of the compromises associated with driving an original Series truck.
This build succeeds by retaining what makes a Series Land Rover interesting in the first place. The slab-sided body, exposed hinges, split windshield, hood-mounted spare and simple cabin remain immediately recognizable, but the mechanical package underneath has been substantially modernized. With only approximately 3,000 miles accumulated since the restoration, a galvanized frame, Chevy 350 V8, automatic transmission and air conditioning, it offers a very different ownership proposition from an unrestored 109. It's still unmistakably a vintage Land Rover, just one built to be considerably easier to live with.
