The Model.
The Willys Jeep Truck, a.k.a Willys Pickup is a truck made by Willys-Overland Motors between the years 1947 and 1965. The Jeep Truck was introduced in 1947 as a 1-ton 4wd truck with a 118” wheelbase. It was a bit of a shape-shifter, available as a pickup truck, a platform stake truck, a chassis cab, or even as a bare chassis. A quick side-by-side confirms that its styling and engineering was based on Willys' existing vehicles, the Willys Jeep Station Wagon and the Jeep CJ-2.
While this beast has had a 350 cubic inch transplant under the hood, the original Willys Jeep truck came from the Toledo, Ohio-based Willys-Overland factory with a 63 horsepower 2.2 Liter 4 cylinder motor. The Jeep Truck was available with only one transmission, the Borg-Warner T-90 three-speed manual, with synchromeshed second and third gears. A Spicer/Dana 18 transfer case was used on 4wd models like this one.
