ABOUT THE 1972 CHEVROLET K10

This K10 is a fine example of Chevy’s vaunted C/K line. Replacing the generation without a name (1st gen), and preceding the squarebody Chevys (3rd gen) came the 2nd generation which was often called the “Action Line.” We’re not exactly sure what that name meant, but it could have been referring to the fact that with this generation Chevy was looking to develop a series of trucks to be used for purposes other than just work. In keeping with that theme, the 2nd gen included comfort and convenience items like air conditioning and power steering, as well as a coil spring trailing arm rear suspension, offering a much more comfortable ride than traditional leaf springs.

Now that you know a bit about the C/K, let us tell you why this is a more-than-fair price for this 1972 Chevy K10. Aside from being objectively gorgeous and meticulously restored, the 2nd generation C/K line is quickly appreciating in value, with a 5-year rolling average increase in auction price of around 50% over the last 5 years according to classic.com data.

While this truck is priced above that rolling average price, a quick scan of some of the comparables at around this price shows you that this is indeed a good buy. In that scan you might also notice that on January 29, 2022, Barrett Jackson hammered down on a 1972 Chevy K10 for a mind-bending $192,500 (!!!!).  That one was more mod than resto, but my goodness.

SPECS

As mentioned above, this K-10 represents a recent restoration, with only 994 miles on the odometer since the work was performed–enough to make sure that this thing has been properly shaken down and dialed in. Much of the work done during the restoration was designed with originality in mind, but there have been some enhancements to the ride, power and sound to make this K-10 as capable a driver as it is in the mud. Full details are below.

As the Collectible team mentions in their listing, the inherent collectibility (and value) of this K-10 is enhanced by the presence of its original build sheet, bill of sale, Protect-O-Plate and even build receipts. And this thing is just as clean on the underbody and under the hood as it is on the outside and interior.
