1974 Dodge W200 Power Wagon For Auction.

SOLD | PRIVATE PARTY | COSTA MESA, CA

Completely awestruck by this rig. Gobsmacked. Floored. Blown away. Up for auction on Bring a Trailer is this absolutely unbelievable 1974 Dodge W200 Power Wagon. This 4x4 sits on a 96 Dodge Ram 2500 chassis and is powered by a beastly 5.9L Cummins turbodiesel mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission and dual-range transfer case. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg on this specimen of a truck.

If you’re feeling like this is the one, you’ll need to get your bids in by this Sunday, September 25 at 4:00pm EST. We’ll be watching this one.

The 1974 Dodge W200 Power Wagon.

Predecessor to the Dodge Ram, the Dodge D Series is a line of pickup trucks that was sold by Dodge from 1960 all the way to 1993 in three generations. Despite the relatively long production run of 33 years, the actual design of the truck changed very little. It shared its platform with the Dodge Ramcharger and Plymouth Trail Duster and came in 4x4 and 4x4, the former of which was denoted with a W, like this W200.

This example is a 3rd generation model, introduced in 1972 with a slightly more rounded look and some new features like an independent front suspension and pocketed tail lights, designed to avoid damage in loading docks and confined spaces (our example eschews these lights for more modern versions). A durable and reliable truck, the D Series was constructed with a considerable amount of galvanized steel in an effort to prevent rust and corrosion. Tough AF.

A Highly Modified Mopar Truck

One look at this rig and you can tell there has been extensive work done and no expense spared in doing so. There’s no tally available in the listing, but we’re talking well into six figures in parts and labor.

At its core, it’s a 3/4 ton crew-cab 4×4 pickup set on top of a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 chassis and outfitted with a more modern 1990s-style grill and lighting, a Ram hood ornament, and a big ‘ol Cummins 5.9 L turbodiesel inline-six cylinder. The craftsmen who built it then added a number of choice modifications including 17″ Method wheels, a Wilwood HydroBoost brake system, a 6″ lift with Bilstein dampers, an Alpine sound system with two 10″ subwoofers, and a Viper alarm system with GPS tracking, Amp Research powered side steps–and more.
