ABOUT THE 1990 Ford F-150

The 1990 Ford F-150 is part of the 8th generation of the Ford F-150, the best selling car (truck) in the United States for the past 43 years. Introduced for the 1987 model year as a major remake of the 7th generation truck, notable for its variety of new sheet metal and a striking change in its front fascia. That front fascia earned it the name bricknose, with the previous generation known as bullnose and the subsequent generation referred to as aeronose.

The design was simpler with an exterior facelifted with new composite headlamps, a more aerodynamic front end, and circular fenders. Ford also chose to eschew the flareside bed design with the 8th gen, opting instead for producing all models with straight-sided styleside beds, with the fenders characteristically visible inside the bed.

This particular truck comes with the 502A equipment package, with options including AM/FM stereo, A/C, cruise control, a cloth bench seat, dual fuel tanks and deluxe Argent style wheels. Being an XL, it also added options over the base Custom model including swing away mirrors, a front bumper rub strip, color-keyed floor mat, a door trim panel with a map pocket and a color-keyed headliner.

So what's it worth? Here's a peek at the data from Classic.com showing a rolling average right around $15,000 over the last 5 years. That said, if you dig deeper, comparable examples command much, much higher, with a number selling in the $30,000+ range. This appears to be a good buy as priced.

The Specs.

The folks at Chequered Flag vouch that this F-150 comes complete with a clean Carfax with 15 services noted. It is in excellent condition with paint that looks mint despite 32 years under its belt, including meter readings between 2.5 and 4.0 across all body panels. It’s pretty clear this rig spent many years in the warm protected environment of a garage (or maybe a barn?).

They say it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and judging by the pictures, this rig wins by that measure, too. It has an original interior with its only noted flaw a bit of discoloration (but not cracking) on the dash from years in the sun.
