About The Land Rover Defender
The Land Rover Defender is a legendary off-road utility vehicle, known for its capability over the most adverse terrain and for its ultra-reliability.
While the "Defender" moniker wasn't added until 1990, it was the successor to the utilitarian Series III and offered in either a 90, 110, or 127 wheelbase and badged accordingly, with the 127 becoming known as the 130 following during the 1990 refresh. The Defender was offered in both pickup and wagon form, with either 2, 3, or 5 doors depending on the configuration.
Powering the Defender was a series of diesel and gasoline engines, including the 200Tdi, 300Tdi, and 3.5L Rover V8. These engines were mated to your choice of manual or automatic transmission.
The original body style remained largely in-tact from its release in 1984 until 2016 when the Defender was discontinued by Land Rover. When the Defender was discontinued, INEOS approached Land Rover to purchase the Defender's tooling to create their own upmarket utility-focused 4x4, and offer to which Land Rover declined. In 2019, Land Rover revealed their intention to bring the Defender back, along with all-new design, for the 2020 model year.
Features & Specifications
This remarkable Defender 110 is a rare three-axle beast, having undergone a 6x6 conversion by the legendary U.K. engineering firm Reyonds Boughton, now known as Boughton Engineering. It's stamped with serial no. R41989, and is powered by a 136 hp. 3.5L Rover V8, which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Power is sent to the front two axles full-time, or to all three axles when engaging the center locking differential.
It's finished in vibrant red and offers offers dual exhaust stacks, WARN winch, tow hitch, mud flaps, and two bed benches. The six wheels are wrapped in brand new Toyo Open Country tires, and inside the cabin there are two rows of seating: two captain's chairs in front with center console between, and three seats behind. The seats are finished in black with red stitching. Additional seating can be found in the bed by way of two inward-facing bench seats.
