You Need an Aeronose F-Series Truck
The 9th Generation of Ford F-Series pickups dropped for the 1992 model year, quickly earning the nickname "Aeronose" for its departure from the boxy shapes and hard lines popularized in 70s and 80s pickups. It's also affectionately known as an "OBS" Ford, or Old Body Style.
The lineup ran the full gamut of F-Series trucks from the F-150, F-250, F-350, and F-Super Duty, while also bestowing the design language upon the 5th Generation Ford Bronco released in the same model year.
Your 9th Generation Ford F-Series pickup was powered with several options of fuel types, transmission types, bed lengths, and cab sizes. Additionally, the F-Series truck was outfitted with a long list of trim options depending on the year and model, including the Custom (1992 only), XL, XLT, Nite (1992 only), SVT Lightning, and the Eddie Bauer edition.
What is the Ford Eddie Bauer Edition?
From 1984 to 2010, Ford partnered with another iconic American brand, outdoor gear and apparel company Eddie Bauer, on a premium, limited edition trim package. This trim level sat above the XLT and offered proprietary features based on the year and model like upgraded tan cloth seats, black grille, upgraded audio, two-tone paint scheme, and Eddie Bauer badging.
The partnership was first released for the Ford Bronco II in 1984, and ended with the Expedition and Explorer in 2010. In between, the Eddie Bauer treatment was bestowed on several Ford models:
- Ford Aerostar (1988–1994)
- Ford Bronco (1984–1996)
- Ford Bronco II (1984–1990)
- Ford Excursion (2003–2005)
- Ford Expedition (1997–2010)
- Ford Explorer (1991–2010)
- Ford F-150 (1994–1996)
- Ford Taurus X (2008–2009)
The only Ford pickup truck to receive the designation was the Ford F-150, which carried the trim package from 1994 to 1996 out of the 9th Generation Ford F-150's entire 1992-1998 production cycle. The Eddie Bauer edition added special upgrades above and beyond those that came standard with the F-150 XLT trim, including a slotted front bumper, power mirrors, two-tone paint, forged aluminum deep-dish wheels, convertible console seats, and special floormats.
