4.1L TURBODIESEL AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THIS TRUCK RIDES ON A FULLY INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION AND IS EQUIPPED WITH REVERSE-PHASE FOUR WHEEL STEERING. The Mega Cruiser is a large, all-terrain vehicle built for maximum off-road ability, not speed. Key features include:

  • Engine: A 4.1L 15B-FTE inline-four turbodiesel engine. It produces around 150 horsepower, but an impressive 280 lb-ft of torque.
  • Drivetrain: A 4-speed automatic transmission with a two-speed transfer case and full-time 4-wheel drive. It also features triple-locking differentials (front, center, and rear).
  • Steering: Four-wheel steering, which makes the massive vehicle much more nimble in tight spaces than its size would suggest.
  • Ground clearance: Approximately 16.5 inches, aided by portal axles that raise the drive shafts higher than the wheel hubs.
  • Suspension: A four-wheel double-wishbone independent suspension with torsion bars.
  • Tires: 37-inch run-flat tires were standard. An optional central tire pressure system allowed drivers to inflate or deflate the tires from the cabin to adapt to changing terrain.
  • Interior: Despite its military roots, the civilian interior offered some comfort features like cloth seats, power windows, and air conditioning. It could seat up to six passengers
