This 1998 Land Rover Defender 110 is a well-documented European-market station wagon powered by the 300Tdi turbo diesel and finished in its original Epsom Green Metallic (Land Rover paint code 961). With just 72,000 original miles, the truck benefits from a 2021 body and chassis refurbishment and retains the classic five-door station wagon configuration.
Previously offered by Defender specialist Car Cave USA, the truck comes with documented history tracing its life through Germany, Austria, and the French Alps, where it spent years navigating mountainous terrain before arriving in the United States. The vehicle was originally purchased in May 1998 from Auto-Center Verderame in Memmingen, Germany, a dealership that sold MG, Rover, and Land Rover vehicles at the time. The Defender later spent much of its life traveling between Salzburg, Austria and Wasserburg am Inn in Germany, with service records and inspection documentation supporting its mileage history.
In 2017, the Defender moved to the Haute-Loire region of France, an area surrounded by the mountains of the Massif Central. In 2021, the vehicle underwent a body and chassis refurbishment, including a full teardown respray in its original Epsom Green Metallic. Car Cave later acquired the vehicle and completed additional maintenance and servicing before selling it to the current owner.
The current owner subsequently relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, but ultimately decided that the extreme summer heat and urban driving environment were not the right fit for this type of vehicle or lifestyle. The Defender is now being offered through Sonoran Rovers in Tucson, Arizona on consignment.
Before listing the vehicle, we have spent time driving and evaluating it locally in southern Arizona and will be taking it on a shakedown drive through the Arizona grasslands, the kind of open terrain these trucks were built to explore.
Overall, this is a well-sorted 300Tdi Defender 110 station wagon and a strong starting point for someone looking for a trustworthy base for an adventure-focused Defender build.
