About the 1987 GMC Suburban 1500 Silverado

The GMC Suburban was Chevy’s upmarket division’s take on the Chevy Suburban. Having been first created all the way back in 1935, it’s known for being the longest continuously used automobile nameplate in production. It has also traditionally been one of General Motors' most profitable vehicles.

This example is a 1500, which in essence means that it was built on GM’s 1/2 ton chassis, whereas 2500s were built on a more heavy-duty 3/4 ton chassis. It’s also of the Silverado trim, which was one of 5 offered in 1987: Custom Deluxe; Custom Sport; Scottsdale; Cheyenne; and Silverado. The Silverado trim provided the most features at the highest quality. The pictures included in this listing show you exactly what we mean. This thing is plush.

Powered by a fuel injected 350 cubic inch V8 motor that delivered 210 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque from the factory, this rig features a 4-speed automatic transmission and dual range transfer case, a capable combination. 1987 was actually the first year GMC offered fuel injection over carburetors. It also has power steering, cruise control and power assist brakes, helping to make this one a delightful driver.

As you’ll see below courtesy of classic.com, this Suburban is offered at a price that comes in a bit above the rolling 5-year average for auction sales of around $17,500, but if you take a closer look at the data, you will see that this Suburban's price that is more than fair for its condition, mileage and equipment.
