A badass Hummer ought to have a badass name, right? Right. This 1994 AM General Hummer H1 for sale by Rover Classic in Cream Ridge, NJ is called “Red Rhino,” a nod to its characteristic durable red Rhino Liner coating. It’s a unique look, but most of all, it’s on brand for the H1, a rig that is brutally tough and capable direct from the factory. This truck also boasts a Whipple supercharger, a roof rack chock full of PIAA lights, some brand new luxurious upholstery, and an asking price of $59,999.

A 1994 Hummer H1 Called Red Rhino.
The AM General Hummer H1 is a four-wheel-drive super utility vehicle based on a military vehicle called the M998 HMMWV, often called Humvee because it’s decidedly easier to say than H-M-M-W-V. Eventually people shortened the name even further to just “Hummer,” which became the official name when AM General released a civilian version due to market demand. There’s a whole backstory about how Arnold Schwarzenegger and the movie Kindergarten Cop drove that market demand, but we won’t get sidetracked, you can read about that HERE. The H1 was produced from 1992 through 2006.
This is a 1994 Hummer H1, one of only 718 H1s produced that year, and one of only 47 produced with a gray interior. 1994 H1s represented a shift from a 6.2L engine and 3-speed transmission to a 6.5L engine and a 4-speed. In addition to adding 20 horsepower and 40 lb ft of torque, the new transmission configuration changed the gearing to allow the Hummer H1 to cruise at a significantly lower RPM, reducing noise levels and raising the top speed from 73 to 83 mph. It’s not winning any races, but it’s got power.
The 1994 also boasted a new shift control, a relocation of the battery from under passenger seat to under the hood which allowed more seat adjustments, larger diameter half shafts for increased strength and durability, a fresh air intake for the cabin, the removal of a raised B beam behind the front seat, a new fuel tank design, and a new glove box with cup holders.
The Specs & Condition.
This 1994 AM General Hummer with 97,991 original miles is in excellent condition for an unrestored example of its age and mileage. Aesthetically, it presents extremely well, likely at least partially as a result of its epically durable Rhino Liner coating. It’s also been enhanced with seats that have recently been recovered in a swanky leather & alcantara suede finish featuring sharp looking diamond cross stitching.
Mechanically, the 6.5 Liter diesel motor was upgraded with a Whipple Supercharger kit. According to the seller, this is a market leading supercharger add-on for the H1, and a significantly better option than outfitting the H1 with a turbocharger.
