ABOUT THE LAND ROVER LR3

The Land Rover LR3, known most places throughout the world as the Land Rover Discovery 3 aka Disco 3, is the 3rd generation of Land Rover’s vaunted series of premium crossover SUVs often hailed as one of the first off-road vehicles marketed as a family car. The LR3 name was selected in North America and the Middle East markets reportedly because of negative quality associations with the Discovery name and a preference in the American market for alpha-numeric model designations. They’ve since reversed course, going back to Discovery.

Aside from its objective good looks and luxury appointments, the LR3 is famous for its capability, featuring a full independent suspension (FIS), an air suspension system that enables ride-height adjustment by pumping up or deflating air bags. The LR3 can be raised to provide ground clearance when on the trails, but lowered at high speeds to improve handling and lower its center of gravity. Land Rover also introduced a 'cross-linked' air suspension. When the course calls for it this suspension mimics the action of a beam axle (as one wheel drops, the other rises). If the chassis of the LR3 hits the ground when the suspension is at its 'off-road' height, the system senses the reduction in load on the air springs and raises the vehicle an extra inch. Adding to its off-road capability, this Land Rover LR3 HSE adds the Heavy Duty package, a $625 option from the factory that adds an active locking rear differential.

This LR3 also includes the Luxury trim, a $2750 option, which includes premium leather seating, a driver’s seat cushion pocket, adaptive front lighting, and a center console with cooler box for you to keep your (non-alcoholic beverages) cold on the trip. The “LUX” designation also adds the Cold Climate package which adds heated windshield, heated front & second row seats with multiple heating levels, and heated windshield washer jets.

The Specs.

This LR3 has been very well kept, including having been given regular service (records are included), something that anyone who’s in-the-know will tell you is important for the Disco. It has newer front and rear brakes, and new control arm bushings added recently. Prior to being listed for sale, it received a full service including new PCV valve, MAF sensor, new fluids, new filters, new battery and more. The Jordan Motorsports team reports no signs or records of any accidents or damages in its history, and no dents, scratches or tears. In the biz, they call that cherry.
