“OBS” stands for “Old Body Style,” a term used to describe the 1992–1997 Ford F-Series. It refers to the final generation of Ford trucks with a traditional squared design before the shift to more rounded body styles in the late 1990s. The lineup includes F-150 models through 1996, along with F-250 and F-350 trucks that carried the design into 1997.
These trucks were offered with a range of gasoline V8 engines and, beginning in 1994, the 7.3L Powerstroke diesel. They are widely known for durability, ease of maintenance, and strong parts availability. Many examples remain on the road today, either in original condition or as modified builds.
Interest in OBS Ford trucks has grown steadily as buyers look for simpler alternatives to modern pickups. Clean examples and diesel-equipped models continue to attract attention, while the platform remains popular for restoration, light-duty work, and off-road use.
