For 45 years and 5 generations from 1961-2006, Mazda delivered the B-series line of compact trucks primarily for foreign commercial markets. It carried several names depending on where it was sold, including the Mazda Proceed in Japan, Mazda Bravo in Australia, and Mazda Drifter in South Africa.
The Mazda B-Series was also re-badged by Ford as the Ford Courier in the early 70s to help combat a rise in demand for compact trucks spurned by Datsun and Toyota in the United States.
Finally, in its 4th generation of production in 1985, the B-Series debuted in North America as a smooth yet capable part-time 4x4 with the maneuverability and comfort of a car, yet functionality of a truck - earning immense praise and popularity.
The Model.
The Mazda B2600i is powered by a Mazda-produced fuel-injected 2.6L I4. This engine was offered for the first time in 1989 as an upgrade over the Mitsubishi-produced carbureted 2.6L I4 and was good for modest improvements in horsepower and torque.
The 2.6L I4 was one of several engine arrangements for the 4th generation B-Series. North American buyers could alternatively choose a 2.0L I4 form 1985-1987 or 2.2L I4 from 1987-1993.
From an appearance standpoint, the North American B-Series remained relatively unchanged throughout its production, save for a few minor enhancements like a revised front bumper and grille and different wheel options.
This particular example is said to have been a California-owned vehicle up until recently being brought to Michigan. As a result, it's rust-free, having never yet experienced the snow. One can't help but admire how well-maintained the luster is on the original paint, which most certainly appears in excellent shape save for a few documented reminders that this is, of course, a 30-year old truck.
The Specs.
This Bay Blue (Color Code DV) over tan B2600i shows just over 251k miles on the odometer, but its free from cosmetic, mechanical, or structural damage as best as we can derive.
Additionally, it's an almost entirely original example, free from modifications and maintained to original spec.
