Now available at the Everett Location this 1979 Volvo TGB C306 is ready for civilian life. Originally designed as a competitor to the Mercedes Unimog the Volvo Cross Country 303 or as it is called in Sweden "Terrängbil 11/ TGB" is a masterfully built piece of engineering. The TGB started production in 1974 in a 4x4 and a 6x6 version. Designed for the military but used by civilians as well they gained a cult following for the capability to go places others could not. Used by Emergency services, Forest and electrical companies. Civilians loved them, in 1983 one even won the Dekker rally in the under 10 tone truck category. This 6x6 unit was a troop carrier for the Swedish military. Clocking only 11,222 Original Miles it still hasn't seen many miles for its age. Powered by the Volvo inline 6 the B30 Engine is simple and reliable. Twin Carburetors fuel this 3.0 liter gasoline engine. Making a 125 Hp and 165LBS of torque it pushes it to a top speed of 62 miles an hour. Behind its 3.0 is the 5 speed transmission with a multi speed transfer case. That combo pushes power to all 6 wheels through portal axels. The interior was available in any color you would want as long as its was green. Utilitarian military pegboard and wooden seating for 17 people. Seatbelts and unique heating for the whole bench in the rear cargo area. 6 metal and rubberized cargo doors allow everyone to ingress/egress easily. Numerous cargo and tool boxes are located on truck to house tools and batteries out of the way. The drivers cabin is much of the same, utilitarian pegboard and green. Door windows slide or are completely removable. The front window also tilts out for the drivers enjoyment. Analog communication between drivers compartment and passenger compartment. Gauges and warning lights are abundant on the instrument panel, allowing for monitoring of every system. Utilizing Volvo's alumazinc material the hull was designed to withstand Sweden's harshest environments. The Volvos were smaller and faster but just as capable. It may look large but is more manageable than you think. With a wheelbase barely over 106 inches and only 84.5 inches wide, it can fit in most parking places. This 6x6 weighs in at 7474 lbs and uses drum break all the way around. The fuel tank holds 22.5 Gallons of gas and has compartments for multiple jerry cans.
