This Toyota HiAce Regius has just arrived at our shop and is a wonderful example of what late 90s engineering did for family commuter vans. Differing in quite a few ways from the more utilitarian style HiAce models we typically import, the Regius is a significantly more feature laden and refined machine. By moving the engine slightly forward, Toyota created a much quieter cabin, a more natural car like driving position, and an incredibly airy walk through interior that feels more like a mobile lounge than a cargo van. With under 62k verified miles, 4WD, and a laundry list of features, this van is an all around go getter that offers a level of comfort and highway smoothness that its commercial grade cousins simply cannot match.
Powered by the four cylinder 3RZ-FE motor and mated to a 4 speed automatic transmission, this Regius shares the same motor as domestic market 4Runners, making maintenance, servicing, and parts availability as simple as a run to the local parts store. The exterior is finished in a unique two tone of Gloss Super White over Moonstone Metallic. This contrast highlights the Regius’ upright proportions and gives it a confident, period correct look. Its distinct styling offers a perfect middle ground between a compact van and a full sized transporter, standing out as a design that simply has no domestic equivalent. The body lines remain straight and consistent, and the factory equipment remains intact, including OEM rain guards, integrated fog lights, a power parking pole, and the rear parking mirror, all adding practical usability to an already well equipped platform.
Vans like this do not surface often, especially in this configuration. The HiAce Regius was built with real usability in mind. Rotating middle row seating, dual glass roofs, a full flat-fold sleeping setup, and independent climate control front and rear make it ready for anything you throw at it. It is mechanically robust, intelligently laid out, and equally suited for daily driving, long highway miles, or camping trips where the cabin converts into a comfortable sleeping space.
