Produced under wartime contract to the same specifications as the Willys MB, the GPW features the iconic flat-fender design, a rugged steel body, and Ford’s distinctive “F-marked” components throughout. Powered by the 134ci L-head 4-cylinder paired with a 3-speed T-84 transmission and 4x4 drivetrain, the GPW was engineered for reliability, simplicity, and field serviceability under the harshest conditions.
As a 1945 example, it reflects late-production details and the culmination of continuous wartime improvements. Today, surviving GPWs are prized by collectors, restorers, and military-vehicle enthusiasts for their authenticity, engineering simplicity, and direct link to U.S. military history.
